The Hooker with Jungle Fever, Hurrah to Her!

Photobucket
Starting the parsing of fall collections with Givenchy seems an in medias res inception. A hard one. Currently I listen to klezmer music, the album of Andy Statman & Zev Feldman from 1977, and it helps me much to imagine this whole area. As you may get used to my assay-habits, you know I won't really talk about materials or give detailed pattern featuring. I rather imagine the circumstances this all may exists in.
Photobucket
Mixing black panthers, pin-up girls (Bettie Page mainly), jungle vibrations, "purple orchid prints, black patent, see-through organza, Gianni Versace-in-the-eighties silks", baseball caps, cat-ears, holy wreaths and hooker cuts makes Givenchy so vivid and sprawling. Black panther's roar. (Animal motifs are pretty modish this year, so bring out your childhood's garment or your little sibling's.)
Photobucket
The main line of bearing in my mind was a movie title like THE HOOKER WITH JUNGLE FEVER. Or The Jungle Days of a Hooker. (Which one do you prefer?) Really, my next script will be about the adventures of Masha, the Holy Hooker who - after a plane crash - gets lost somewhere in South America and become the protagonist of Henri Rousseau's paintings. Ah, Jesus, what a story!
Photobucket
Back to Givenchy. (So hard, you know, I've totally empathized myself into this epic tale, huh.) Stop joking, this is serious business. This collection is like a neon-version of catholic baroque ornamentation with a twist of wilder, feral sultriness and lust. Only for urban beasts. Of course, this is For Your Pleasure! Definitely MYSTICAL.

Pre-Fall sounds fancy, right? (part 2)

While everyone's attention on haute couture, I have a few more words on pre-fall. Do not argue about pre-fall's irrelevance or significance. It's like resort, the same case, not that important but fun to care for, that's sure.
Celine. Has my biggest regard of pre-fall stuffs. You know, Phoebe Philo mixed everything she found: the facetious Harris and Shetland tweeds (what the designer calls "modern urban camouflage"), the discolights of silver trousers, the uproarious refreshed military, the leopard/leather pair's hooker senses, the stony businesswoman's stiffness, and the old lady's timeless foxfur. Definitely the best collection for september, if pre-fall means this period. Whatever pre-fall means.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Maison Martin Margiela. THE COATS. There's nothing more to say. "Bimaterials (the typically Margielan—or let's say Maisonian, since the Maître has left the building—practice of juxtaposing two fabrics or materials on top of or adjacent to one another)." It's really an inimitable trick just like a Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin one.
Photobucket
Reem Acra. I'm not this evening-dress and cocktail-dress liker kind of. But hey, look at these. Beautiful. Classic. Peafowl. Nebula. A more radical version of The Little Mermaid - for adults, or a costume for Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra (1963). That's how (and where) I imagine these.
Photobucket
Rochas. So Oliver Twist, so 1800s - with the heavy flats and boyish, wide trousers. The other resemblance is Charlie Chaplin. No? That's why I like this collection, doesn't hold on to effeminacy phrases. Wide, mannish trousers, astrakhan caps and ankle socks remind me to Fellini-characters, Italian neorealism, a bit of circus world, clowns especially. You know what? I want to wear these to school, to party, to dream! Perfect to cut a dush.
Photobucket
Antonio Marras. Reeeeeally something for your grandma, right, that's what you think now? Honey, be honest! But hey, following the witchy vibes of last fall, this is a perfect continue. (I hate the hair.)

Proenza Schouler. Here we are, again. I guess I'll make a Proenza Schouler-themed post and collect all the previous collections' number ones. Good idea? In the ropes: a street boy with his loose three-quarter pants and black socks versus the french Vogue's editor-in-chief with her sharp, black jacket (yes we all know Emmanuelle Alt is that now, so no more posts about it, PLEASE, by the way good luck Emmanuelle!). Seems none of the dualists could win, so Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez mixed the laxaty of streets and the elegance of french ones. Dresses for Sissy Hankshaw, the cowgirl and for Ellen Church's reincarnations at United Airlines. Attention! THIS pink is not a "hey sweeties I'm a girl and my favourite colour is the sweetest sweetie pink" kinda stuff. (Actually these are Guatemalan stripes, as Jack said.)
Photobucket
3.1 Phillip Lim. Looking same and so different. The colors, the materials, the detail cuts. Definitely THE coats of the season. As I was hanging around pre-fall collections, I realized that for sure we will wear coats and flared trousers like THESE for this fall. Jesus. I mean, last time I wore flared trousers was in elementary school, and I make you sure that wasn't lately (alas!). We'll see, exciting.
Photobucket
Balenciaga. The odd-one-out. What is happening around the house of Balenciaga? Chaos in minds, I guess. Leatwasy I hope, Mr. Ghesquière. I have various and strange feelings. These "grandma's outfit for grocery shopping" inspirated clothes raise the question: where's the dividing line between ugly and stylish. The purple fur with that skirt pulled on trousers stuff, the running shoes, the here and there military printed sweater, the dazzling kitschy coat, the Lassie-headed sweater (actually it was made in 2000 a/w already, take a look at here!), and the last decade's high heels looks pretty funny on a model who has a face like the young Marilyn Manson. There's something lovely about this collection. If you can formulate what it is exactly, don't be shy to comment!

Calvin Klein

Maybe Calvin Klein is the best example how much I've changed in the past period. I used to like more colourful and complex collections, saying boring on those simple clothes, and now? I totally like these! I've realized I prefer the minimalist, flat and pale dresses nowdays. Their strength is their visibility, they're powerful and strong, salient with their simplicity. A sacklike cut and a foundation hue makes me feel rad because - as Francisco Costa said - it's "minimal, almost monastic".

The teenage anger and the Julie Delpy-1995 looks

Next fall we're all going to be high-school girls in high-styled uniforms. This Rag & Bone collection is not for the maths learning-natured but the truant, the Sassy reader, the Nirvana-fan kinds. The teenage anger and the Julie Delpy-1995 looks show a way to live through again those years you hated but now you cry for being back. Cry for those times when prefering being drunk over being loved was accepted. Really. I'm not kidding. Anyway I am ready for the green hair dyeing. Ready, steady, go!

Trash

First question: is this really serious? WHAT IS THIS? I mean, I'm just... a bit confused about Jeremy Scott for spring. This collection is a joke. And if I believe this (and I guess I have to), then it's a fun in its own dark, likeable way. The four most convincing pieces are the TRASH t-shirt with the leather skirt, the armour-breasted little black dress, the skeleton dress and the jacket-like black leather backpack (actually I NEED this backpack, or a similar one). Plus as an extra, the sunglasses and the can-dress. The other parts of the collection are not for me. Too constrained. The flesh dress is simply ridiculous. Anyway I can't think of anything now, maybe a Halloween night? Or a birthday party for Alice?

You definitely love the Rodarte-sisters even if you don't know why

I definitely love the Rodarte sisters. And definitely not this is my favourite collection by them. Maybe the first and dumbest reason to it, I don't like brown. And in this case the problem is in their baseconcept - among others - there was that "every shade of brown you can imagine" Inspiration stuff, from wood paneling to chartreuse. Combined with blue I don't like it far more. Fault.
Határozottan szeretem a Rodarte nővéreket. Hiba.

Anybody says anything, for me the spring collection of Kate and Laura Mulleavy represents something very ancestral and a tiny slice of the airplane-factory worker women's attitude in the World War II at the same time. The gold, toga-like, detail-rich, chased clothes lay down the roots of a modern reproduction of the ancient greek culture, in the representation of Lucilla, the daughter of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. The blue and white are the pulled-up, soft versions of chinese Ming vases. The three-quarter workerpants, the white socks, the up to the chin buttoned up shirts tell of the wives' and young girls' menless, somehow free, but hard world. Oh and I forget about the Sirens. They are here, too.

Rodarte Spring 2011

Why not is this my favourite Rodarte collection? Because there's no heartthrobing, no quick pulse, no rising in blood-pressure. Beautiful. I like it, but I couldn't say a reason why. Maybe for it's dichotomy. Or for the gold. Or for the love of the sisters. The platform heels are in my heart, anyway. But this fumbling, horrendously annoying, unanswered doubt is on the brain. So the question is: why do YOU love Rodarte?
A platform magassarkú mondjuk a szívem csücske.

Orientalist and Lefebvre-inspirated

Photobucket
You know I'm not that girly girl. But when I saw the refined and royal spring collection of Marchesa, it has taken my breath away. The orientalist-inspired collection is the One Thousand and One Nights and at the same time the  clothes-impersonation of the nineteenth-century painter, Jules Joseph Lefebvre's works'. Sheherezade in the pearly dress. Brilliant. Instead of words take a look at the whole collection, or watch the video. Believe me, it's worth.
Seherezádé a gyöngyökkel kirakott ruhában.

Can I call you boys, dear Lazaro and Jack?

Proenza Schouler Spring 2011

Everyone agree that the latest collection of Proenza Schouler is much grown up, and more feminine than the formers. Everything is softer and longer, there is a lot of chiffon. I'll be quite frank (yes, when I start a sentence like this, in most cases I'm about to tell a bad report pretending that I have to reckon with anyone because of my negativ - or whatever - opinion, bad habit) at first I felt nothing. But I announce pridefully, from the status of "it's not bad actually" at the attendance of acid yellow I've got to the "hm, quite great" thought.

I hate to dale with I like it or not. Who cares? I mean, obviously it has a reason why I put it on the blog. And obviously you're curious what it is. And obviously I will tell you. But obviously you have found out what this reason is. Obviously it is that after looking this over many times I came to love it, and the saluting before the geniousness of Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough up to now, so it was compulsory to write about the new clothes of Proenza Schouler. The Emperor's new clothes. It can be noticed by who's worthy for it. (The Emperor?)
A császár új ruhái. (A császár?)

As the Chanel-like tweed jackets passed, these acid yellow chiffon bits has appeared. The PS-boys (can I call You boys, dear Lazaro and Jack?) already used this colour in their last year collection. And now I don't feel like to go in what new technics or materials they were working with. Sorry. My associations disappointed me now. A bit I cry for their 2009 spring clothes, I  adored them, I eulogized them. Anyway it's good to be lost in the details here and thinking about "oh dear acid yellow, what do you want from me, where do you take me, why do Ya love me?"
Az asszociációim most teljesen cserben hagytak. Kicsit visszasírom a 2009-es nyári ruháikat, azokat imádtam, ódákat zengtem. Mindenesetre jó elveszni ezekben a részletekben, és azon gondolkozni, hogy "ó kedves acidsárga, mit akarsz tőlem, hová viszel, s miért szeretsz Te engem?"

Colourful, playful

Peter Som Spring 2011
A happy bubble gum collection? Maybe. And exactly this is why we (I mean on we actually myself, but we sounds better) love Peter Som's spring clothes. "Miami Beach, Peggy Guggenheim, op art." No strain, no "trying to create something you have never seen" effect. A simply exciting, colourful and playful collection, vibrant colours, and vivid motifs. Like we go to the oceanarium or to the theme park with the kidz and eat those big rainbow lollipops. I mean, I do.
Egy vidám rágógumi kollekció? Meglehet.

Rad

You know, that black and white stuff. Yes. The master of unisex, symmetrical and zippered clothes is, no doubt, Rad Hourani. The difference between this and last year's collection is the white colour. As I'm getting older, I become even more the man of excesses. I need everything to be minimalist or chock-ful. Rad Hourani or Meadham Kirchhoff. Leather, PVC, neoprene. Our grandchildren will dress like these in some decades, and they'll be feminine-masculine twins. I have no words for the sunglasses. They're epic.
Tudod, a fekete és fehér téma. Igen. Epikusak.

RAD by Rad Hourani Spring 2011
Well, the judgment has not indisputable yet. The court is going to decide later that the defendant who appeared here will be convicted or voted with an agreement yes. I can not decide it is ugly or I need it much. The danger is I feel inclined to the I need it much way, and I guess the battle will turn out in minutes. Of course I'm talking about the Rad Hourani's collaboration with Aldo shoes. Three, two, one. The question has brought. HERE to me with it.
A kérdés eldőlt. IDE vele.

In the girltoilet they're amazed

Reminds me of my childhood? Kindergarten? Hawaii? Pineapples, pears, strawberries, grapes, melons and bananas are gazing at us from the pieces of Z Spoke by Zac Posen collection, in some seablue eye-dye and cherryred (a petit catachresis) lipstick. This is not funny, this is the FUN. Urchin-dresses for amoeba-bodied madcaps, mummy pops off to the corner We Love Vintage little rummage shop. How comes Hawaii here? Mostly with the pineapples, I guess. Anyway I shall continue to wear my ducky, Mickey Mouse and other childhood t-shirts, hurray.
A gyerekkoromra emlékeztet? Óvoda? Hawaii? Ananászok, körték, eprek, szőlőszemek, dinnyék és banánok bámulnak ránk a Z Spoke by Zac Posen kollekció darabjairól, méghozzá igen komoly tengerkék szemfestékben és cseresznyepiros (kis képzavar) ajakrúzsban. Ez nem játékos, ez maga a JÁTÉK. Lurkódresszek amőbatestű vadócoknak, anyu kiruccant a sarki We Love Vintage kis turkiba. Hogy jön ide Hawaii? Leginkább az ananásszal, gondolom én. Mindenesetre továbbra is hordom a gyerekkori kacsás, Mickey Egeres és egyéb pólóimat, hurrá.

When I first saw these (sun)glasses, pardon me, but I almost pee in. This is the case of OMFG. And it's not just about that in the nineties, when I was a kid, we thought more and more shimmer dust makes us cooler, or that we liked all mutations of plastic-rubber-glittering-stuffs. You see, it is a work, a modernized fities cat-eye relic, a fits-on-me piece. So life's complete that I know this exists. Amen.

Which comic hero do we choose for the pair? Ideas? Some western-movie saloonkeeper's daughter is here, and the cartoon-y chic illustrations of Daisy de Villeneuve, and Steve Madden's CAN'T MISSING SHOES. "In the girltoilet they're amazed and admired at my new sunglasses, hah, they're green with envy. Fie, girls, do not yearning."

The Dynamic White

The default colour is white. Alexander Wang for the Spring of 2011 creates the composition of The Dynamic White. Very optimistic and pure, as the designer described his collection which resusciates the street-casual clothes invented by Helmut Lang and Ann Demeulemeester in the nineties. Of course the hip-hop likeness, the music or the Basquiat effect in the scribble-printed clothes, smells like the eighties. It's certainly intentional. The New York downtown young girls go to party.
A New York-i downtown fiatal lányai bulizni indulnak.

Alexander Wang Spring 2011

The white, the aqua and the pale terra-cotta waft-y canvas clothes are dynamic and living, the parts of a vibrant organic puzzle. The models can walk actually. I mean, really, they don't even walk, they sleek. And they're total cool. I look at them, and comes to my mind: hey, let's go party. Sure we can't leave at home the supersweetie (can't believe I've written down this word) Alexander. Party with Erin Wasson, too! Before we'd get into our floppy-loose Wang clothes and sure the song was trolling loud all night long.
A modellek tulajdonképpen tudnak járni. Bulizzunk Erin Wassonnal is!
